Pastor Alfred – Senior Pastor
Pastor Alfred is a native Georgian who has served in ministry over the last twenty-five (25+) years. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Fort Valley State University, his Master of Divinity at Howard University School of Divinity and his Doctor of Ministry Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. Prior to returning to Atlanta, he served in ministry at the Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church (GMCHC) in Washington, D.C., co-chairing the 120-member Ministerial Alliance and serving as Vice-President of the Anchor of Hope for the Homeless Ministry. At GMCHC, he led the strategic planning efforts and helped develop their vision for the future. Together, he and his wife founded Hope XPress, Inc. which has been providing mentoring, scholarships and book bags and school supplies for fifteen (15) years to kids in need throughout small rural towns in Georgia. He has a passion for assisting youth, single moms, and the elderly in leading productive lives. He believes we are blessed in proportion to how we serve those in need.
In his professional career, Pastor Alfred serves as Vice President for Human Resource Consulting for the Chickasaw Nation Industries where he oversees major contracts for the company and serve as the company’s thought leader in human resources transformation. He is a retired federal executive and former member of the Senior Executive Service (SES), serving as the Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Human Resources at Customs and Border Protection and Procurement Executive at the Department of Labor.
Pastor Alfred and Pastor Jo Ann have been married for 47+ years and are the proud parents of three sons and six (6) grandchildren.
Pastor Jo Ann
Pastor Jo Ann is a native of Dawson, Georgia. She has been working in various components of ministry for over 30 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Pre-professional social work at Fort Valley State University and her Master of Religious Studies at Howard University School of Divinity. It was Pastor Jo Ann’s vision that led to the founding of Hope XPress, Inc. which is a non-profit organization provides mentoring, scholarships, workshops and book bags and school supplies to needy youth throughout rural towns in Georgia. Prior to returning to Atlanta, Pastor Jo Ann served in various ministry capacities in the Washington, D.C. area. She served on the Board of the Downtown Cluster of Congregation which planned and collaborated to meet the needs of homeless and at-risk citizens throughout Washington, D.C. She also served on the Board of Directors at Calvary Health Care, which provided certified clinical and rehabilitative services to citizens in various areas of need, such as alcohol and substance abuse and HIVAIDS.
She and Pastor Alfred founded Hope Xpress Community Church, Inc. to spread the message of the Hope of Jesus Christ to Atlanta communities through encounters that meet spiritual and physical needs.
After over 30 years of public service as a Management and Strategic Analyst in the federal government, Pastor Jo Ann transitioned to serve full-time in ministry and non-profit to expand the influence and outreach of Hope Xpress Community Church and Hope Xpress, Inc.
